Impacto da Cirurgia Bariátrica na Saúde Oral e Nutricional: Revisão Narrativa.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: Morbid obesity was defined by the World Health Organization as a chronic, non-communicable and multifactorial disease. Patients with morbid obesity are often referred for bariatric surgical treatment, recognized as an effective alternative for controlling the disease and its complications. Bariatric surgery, although effective, presents significant challenges related to patients' oral and nutritional health. Objective: Investigate the oral and nutritional side effects of bariatric surgery, as well as the importance of integrating preventive and therapeutic strategies in monitoring these patients. Material and Method: Narrative Literature Review Study. Results: Several implications of bariatric surgery on the oral and nutritional health of patients were highlighted, highlighting changes in the microbiota, nutritional and oral consequences, and the direct impacts on oral health. Conclusion: The studies analyzed showed that, although bariatric surgery is effective in reducing weight and improving comorbidities related to obesity, it can also result in significant changes in the oral and intestinal microbiota of patients after undergoing the procedure, with nutritional and oral implications that require special attention.
