Perfil nutricional e suplementação de atletas de futebol
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction and Objectives: soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world. Thus, the present study aimed to conduct a literature review research, analyzing the energy and nutritional intake and ergogenic effects of the most used supplements by soccer athletes. Methods: a bibliographic research over the period between 2011 and 2021 was carried out in the databases of PUBMED, LILACS, Google Scholar, CAPES and Scielo Journals. A combination of Health Science Descriptors such as "soccer", "supplementation", "nutritional status", "body composition", "nutritional recommendation", "macronutrients" and "athletic performance" were used. From this, 36 articles were selected according to exclusion criteria. Results: the literature indicates that an inadequate diet of energy and macronutrients can negatively influence the player's performance. Studies also indicate that players with the role of defender and goalkeeper have more body mass, while the left and right backs are the ones with the least. Some research shows that creatine, beta-alanine, baking soda, caffeine and nitrate supplements are the most commonly used for ergogenic effects in soccer, but the results of caffeine supplementation are controversial in some cases. Conclusion: further studies on soccer-related caffeine supplementation are needed to highlight its efficiency.
